Common questions

Is Hamaki really free?
Yes — the free tier gives you one booking calendar with unlimited spots and a public booking page. Hamaki Pro unlocks multiple booking calendars, custom booking page URLs, auto-scheduled breaks between appointments, and deeper Shortcuts and MCP integration. Pro is €29.99 one-time or €2.99/month via the Mac App Store.
Does Hamaki work without Calendar.app?
Yes. Since version 2026.2, Hamaki can create standalone booking calendars that don't require any calendar permissions at all. Great if you don't want to connect your existing calendars.
Where is my data stored?
Everything stays on your Mac. Hamaki does not sync your schedule to any cloud service. Visitor bookings come in via the booking page (which is hosted), but all your calendar data and appointment details live locally.
What macOS version do I need?
Hamaki requires macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later. It's a Mac-only app — there is no iPhone or iPad version.
How does the MCP integration work?
Hamaki runs a local MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. You connect Claude Desktop, OpenCode, or another MCP-compatible AI assistant to it, and you can then ask natural-language questions about your schedule: "Who do I have tomorrow?", "When's my next free slot this week?", "How many appointments did I have in June?" — all answered from your local data, never sent to a remote server.
Can visitors cancel or reschedule their booking?
Visitors receive a confirmation page after booking with a link to their reservation. From there they can cancel. Rescheduling can be done by the calendar owner directly from within the Hamaki app (since version 2026.2).
How do I set up the CLI?
The hamakicli command line tool ships with Hamaki 2026.7. After installing or updating the app, open Terminal and try hamakicli today or hamakicli visitor "name". Full docs are available at hamaki-docs.raymond.frl.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Reach out to Raymond directly via raymond.frl, or message Tjerk on Mastodon (@potloodgum on mastodon.design). An App Store review also works — Raymond reads them all and treats bug reports seriously.
